After nearly 20 years of residence in the Annex Building at Rush University, Bishop Anderson House has a renovation project underway. Over 1000 people pass through our doors each year and that takes a toll on the space.  In this month alone, we’ve been the site of 2 weekly AA meetings, a perinatal bereavement support group, 2 Rush CPE gatherings, the Alive! pastors’ meetings, our own board of trustees’ meeting…not to mention the meetings and use by our staff.

As we live into our ministry of being a welcoming, comfortable and safe gathering place for pastoral care in the Illinois Medical District, we realized it was time to update furnishings, create a work-space with flexibility for our larger staff, and just put on a fresh coat of paint to refresh the House.

Beginning June 27th, through July 15, we will be under construction, and may not be available to answer phone calls or have visitors. Our staff has coordinated vacation at the same time as construction so that the project can move as quickly as possible. Please reach out to Ann Ryba via email at aryba@bishopandersonhouse.org if you need to speak with someone and we will respond at our earliest opportunity.

We extend special gratitude to Kerri Callahan, Michael Leppen, an anonymous donor and the Board of Trustees, who are making it possible for our house to become a remodeled and welcoming home for all those who walk through our doors.  Watch for news of a grand re-opening this fall when we complete renovations.
